If you’re looking for a hip, sophisticated restaurant featuring local ingredients from farms in Central Texas, Trace is you culinary destination!  Not only will you experience a great local taste infused with class, but a touch of elegance that truly completes the experience.

I sat down with Chef Paul Hargrove and was blown away by how young he was due to the incredible talent  he has for blending ingredients in unique and fascinating ways.  Not only are his meals delicious, Chef Hargrove is as smart and interesting as his food are.

Trace’s décor is very swank and cool, keeping in style with The W Hotel - which always has current and innovative designs. Its modern, clean feel is a breath of fresh air when you are looking to get away.  The lighting is aimed for a darker, romantic vibe, making it perfect for a private feel to your dining.
When you go for dinner I recommend the Niman Ranch Beef Tenderloin. This dish comes with a baked red onion, braised celery, potatoes dauphine, and natural jus. Crispy seared beef on outside and tender on the inside…just the way it’s supposed to be. It was fantastic! The Smoked Brisket Sandwhich with raw white onion, bread and butter pickles, and “Drunken" Cheddar,  for lunch was an amazing dish as well. An aspect of Trace I really love is that everything you order is fresh, local and always changing.  This means, each time you visit…it feels new.

When you are looking for a great restaurant to have a night out or just to get the great taste of local Austin, Trace is one of my top recommendations. With a menu that constantly changes, you’re sure to get a new experience every time you visit. So check them out, in the W Hotel off 2nd downtown.
See you there!
